another republican fiction. government run companies are bad.

well, it's not entirely true, and the arguments are complex. first, the simple arguments. which can be utterly destroyed by a smart republlican.

the post office is unfairly maligned.
the u.s. army is government run.
medicare has the best customer phone service of any company i've worked with.

ok. nothing to write home about.

ok. that's superficial. the real truth. i dont know. public schools. cannot be properly comnpared. for one thing, they serve the lower classes and the immigrants. and study affter study shows mixed statistics, some show real success. its the impact with the raggity masses that you can't deny. but, well, also, private schools can hire and fire at will. somehow tenure has stayed, it probably won't last another ten or twenty years, but it is obviously counter productive. a counter productive principle. I benefited from tenure but never favored it intellectually. it is wrong. Tenure alone costs American education enormously.


so much for that. to actually do the math, and compare, well, private compaines, do very well. most companies are private. thatcher made the airlines run on time by deregulating them.


Conservatism is based on class and merit, liberalism dreams of equality. A silly dream. How it got into our federalist papers is beyond me. All men are not created equal. You can say it all you want, but it is just plain stupid.
