black men and women wielding power

black men and women wielding power.
BRIT HUME FINALLY CLARIFIED IT OBAMA SYMBOLIZED A CHANGE THAT HAD ALREADY TAKEN PLACE. I WAS GETTING TIRED OF HEARING THIS MISCONSTRUED.

Television and movies have erased our prejudice. We now easily accept women and blacks in positions of power, respect and influence. Fifty or sixty years ago it was altogether different.

We've been persuaded to accept black men and women wielding power. For more than a decade, on Law and Order, we have watched a black woman boss a detective bureau, and we have completely stopped noticing her gender or color. Denzel Washington stopped playing a black man years ago. He plays the man in charge. Color is forgotten. In sizing up the best and the brightest, color and gender have long been left behind. So Obama was no surprise. Only to the ignorant.

But the plight of the rest of the black population is no different, even worse. In 1950, almost all black families were intact. Did you know that. Intact. So only freedom and respect given the gifted black has risen spectacularly...etc.

It's horrible. There is no sudden sea change. Obama is one small step in a long process.
